Hard to imagine that a cup of coffee is quite simply the most comforting and soothing solution to a problem. Why hard to imagine? I'll tell ya why.
1) Drinking coffee usually makes me feel twice as anxious
2) Makes me more dehydrated
3) Makes me feel a little sick and bloated
.. and yet, the power of that small little cuppa really makes quite a difference in my everday life!
I like extra strong brews like the traditional type of coffee ( there's one right opposite my office and i've been yearning to give it a try!) They serve as an instant 'pick-me-up' to the day :p
Sitting in the bus home, i took small, intermittent sips of a cup of hot coffee and felt.. calm.
It seems now everyday is a challenge. New workplace, new people i'm meeting each day. New stories to hear about. New things to learn. New practices to apply and adhere to. Things to learn to be quickly streetwise about. There's a ton of challenges in each day and coffee sees me through the day!
I chanced upon a book earlier in the Wa Cafe, National Library. It was a hardcover book on Cafes and Coffee around the world. Lovely! Just the thing i'd readily pick up and settle in a plush cushion , spending hours pouring over the material and just DREAMING about the places to go and people i'd share the experience with.
Day one of work and the boss sat me down and started illustrating branding with reference to a simple paper coffee cup. I was enthralled. He chose the perfect medium and example to illustrate the concepts to me and quite frankly, i'm getting slowly but surely smitten with the craze about branding, how it works, what it entails and appreciating the intricacies behind a good design concept. I think design is utterly intriguing. It's wonderful and it really is a masterpiece. I have great respect for designers. Personally, I'm not great with mindmaps and frameworks and work much better with words and passages in comprehending things. Of course it depends on a case by case basis. But designers are highly visual and can comprehend information and context, effectively working it out in the form of a visual design. It's incredible stuff and can be far more succinct and accurate in describing or representing something than a summary passage ever can. Illustrations and words can work perfectly and produce great work, and that's what we're all about!
